AJ Community Care first started Peter and his wife Kathy’s care in September 2007. We started supporting Peter with things such as showering and personal care.  Over time Peter needed extra support and Kathy also required support with Peter’s care and some support for herself.

Here is more of Kathy’s story…

 “…about 12 months later, Peter’s health had deteriorated quite substantially, which led to the care package being increased. My health was also deteriorating rapidly, and I needed some assistance with tasks such as cleaning, shopping and extra care for Peter.

At this point I also started receiving care for myself as I was struggling to shower and maintain my home. The team are also trained to perform physio for Peter in order to clear his lungs and chest. This helps prevent infection and since AJ have been doing this for Peter, he has not had to have antibiotics for over 6 weeks.

The care package has enabled Peter and myself to remain together in our own home, and has really given us a quality of life. I have very high standards that I did not imagine any care company could ever meet, but the team more than does. I was concerned that this would no longer feel like my own home, but it does. The team have become like extended family. We still have our private time, and the team make sure we are comfortable when it’s time for a cuddle.

AJ have provided us with excellent carers. Nothing is too much for them, everything is done from the heart and because they genuinely care. Even when Peter was in hospital, and the carers did not have to work, they still came to assist me, visited Peter in hospital and made sure he was happy and being looked after well. They did not have to do that, but they did because they wanted to and that is why they are so special.
